The Physics of Flying
For [info]anotheratlantis regular AU prompt #48:

Rodney is a physicist studying bird flight, John is... also somehow involved with birds. Park ranger? Ornithologist? Guy who scales cliff faces to put tags on peregrine falcons? Guy who brings owls into classrooms? Regardless, he clearly thinks birds are cool because they can fly. Their paths cross, there are digs about Rodney's sunscreen and John's bird's-nest hair, John knows all the good spots (interpret that as you will), etc.

Oh oh oh, this was my prompt, and this is SO GORGEOUS! Oh it's so mystical feeling, and adfladsfkj equations morphing into birds, and John's fingers against his lips, and the soft glowy colors, eeeeeeep it's just completely beautiful. Wow wow.

oh this is gorgeous! i adore the soft warm light on rodney's arms and john's face and the equations turning into flying birds!! it's just so soft, peaceful, and lovely! and the bird nesting in his bird nest hair! ♥

Oh, oh WOW, that is so, so beautiful. I love the gentle colours, the luminescence in the bird feathers, and the escher-esque thing you've got going on with the numbers and the birds, and it's, it's, like a visual metaphor or something, wow. And the light on Rodney's face and John's arm, and the sweep of feathers against the black line of John's trousers. It's really gorgeous.

Dude, you totally didn't go for any of the colors I suggested, and can I just say how glad I am that you didn't? Because I am, very glad that you didn't do the solid color stuff. This is absolutely gorgeous, so airy and light and mmmmm, beautiful. Lovely.

Thank you so much! You're so kind. And um, the birds are kind of white and the bird on John's head has pinkish feathers turning into white wing, so I think I sort of did. Partially. *looks sheepish* And really, you're like queen, no make that empress of beta or something. Seriously, you rock.

I think my heart just skipped from pure jealously. This is just gorgeous. Just absolutely stunning. All the details and the soft muted colors and highlights are perfect. I want to frame this and put it on my art wall.

Wow - beautiful. That's wonderful - I love the subtle colours and John and Rodney's postures. Also love the flight of equations along with the birds. I agree with the first comment, very poetic with a definite clean simple subtle Japanese feel.

The colors are exquisite and Rodney's arms...Those arms are just wonderful. All of it, the way they're looking at each other, the forms of the birds, like doves. This makes me happy just looking at it.
